After driving all the way from Denver, Colorado, we were FINALLY at the official start of our Pacific Coast Highway road trip! During COVID, we wanted to take a vacation and realized that this was the perfect time to take a month long road trip from Denver to the top of Washington, down to the tip of southern California, and then back home. You can view our entire PCH itinerary here!
We arrived in Olympia and quickly jumped out of the car for our first view of the water in months! We were starving after a long drive from Spokane, and immediately set out in search of the perfect seafood restaurant.
The Oyster House is right on the water, and it was a perfect sunny day (rare!). We officially started our “let’s eat seafood for 30 days straight” by ordering oysters, crab cakes, and a louie salad waterside.
During lunch, we’d seen a ton of people going in and out of this tiny tugboat in the harbor next to the restaurant. Sand Man Tugboat is one of the oldest tugboats around, and you can do a quick (free!) tour of the boat before heading out.
We were absolutely overjoyed to finally be “officially” on our PCH portion of the trip, and after enjoying the sun for an hour or so, hopped back into the car towards our final destination for the evening, Port Angeles, Washington!
