When we found a flight deal for $362 round trip to Bangkok on Singapore Airlines from Thrifty Traveler, we knew we had to take advantage. We booked in March of 2016 for a March of 2017 trip, so we had plenty of time to plan the perfect itinerary – with only 7 full days in Thailand and 1 in Singapore, we really wanted to maximize our time and make sure to see as much as we could, but also plan for a few days of true relaxation on the beach. In this post, I’ll give you our day by day itinerary, and you can click into sub-blogs at each section to view more in-depth details for each leg of our trip.
We left SFO at 1 am. I always try to find international flights that leave late at night. It gives me the best chance of not being jet lagged the next day, plus I miss minimal amounts of work emails. We stayed awake long enough to have a few glasses of wine and some dinner, and then passed out until breakfast. Part of what made the flight so cheap, was the layover first in Hong Kong, and then in Singapore before finally arriving in Bangkok.
A word of advice: When you’re traveling to Asia, you’ll lose a day. I forgot, and had a whole extra day planned in Bangkok, so we missed the super amazing food tour we were hoping to attend.
Enjoy the itinerary below. If you are making the trip to Thailand/Singapore and want advice, or have great ideas of what to do, please let us know in the comments!
Day 1: Arrive from the airport and spend the evening having an amazing evening at the 8th best restaurant in the world.
Day 2: Sightsee around Bangkok before hopping on a late flight to Phuket.
Days 3-4: Spend some time checking out the party scene on the beaches in Patong, Phuket.
Days 5-7: True relaxation (an infinity pool on your balcony!!) at the Westin in secluded Siray Bay.
Day 8: One last day in Bangkok.
Day 9: A one day layover in Singapore.
